What Is It?
CoolSculpt is a nonsurgical office based treatment that is designed to eliminate ‘problem area’ fat. It uses supercooling technology to kill fat cells in the treatment area, while the patient is sitting/laying on a chair in the office.
Who can use it?
Anyone who wants to get rid of problem areas, like love handles or lower abdominal fat deposits can be considered for CoolSculpt. The CoolSculpt machine can be used for underarm ‘wings’, double chins, saddle bags etc.
Is it real? Does it work?
Yes. It eliminates up to 25% of the fat cells in the treatment area. It kills and breaks down the cells (cryolipolysis) by disrupting their membranes with ice crystals. Your body will then remove the fat and the cells. This process takes weeks and you can re-treat the area in 4-6 weeks.
Even if you are in good shape you may have spots with fat deposits that don’t respond to diet or exercise. These are the areas that CoolSculpt targets, and that no amount of diet or exercise will eliminate.
What’s the process like?
First you would come to the office for an evaluation to make sure you are a candidate. This consultation can take up to 30 minutes. We would carefully go over the areas to be treated, map out treatment and then come up with a treatment plan. Risks and benefits would be explained in detail at this appointment. Pricing would be explained in advance.
On the day of the treatment, you would come in (comfortable clothes recommended), and we would get started! Most treatments would be at least 1-1.5 hours in duration. Once the machine has been applied correctly, you could play on your phone, watch a move, sleep, etc. When the treatment is over, we massage the area vigorously, since this increases the fat disruption for better results.
Is there down time?
Just on the day of treatment, which as explained above can take several hours. Once you are finished, you’re good to go.
